Almaviva Hosted the 5th General Assembly of the European Research Project “AGRIDATAVALUE”

14-04-2025

The 5th General Assembly of the European research project “AGRIDATAVALUE - Smart Farm and Agri-Environmental Big Data Space” (Call HORIZON-CL6-2022-GOVERNANCE-01-11) took place on April 3rd and 4th. at Almaviva’s new headquarters in Milan. Here, partners gathered both in person and remotely to take stock of progress and plan the coming months of activity. The project’s partnership is extensive, consisting of thirty companies, universities, farms, and livestock breeders from 14 European countries, led by the Greek company Synelixis. The objective of the project is equally significant: to develop and test innovative technologies so as to offer itself as a game changer for Smart Farming 4.0 and agri-environmental monitoring. The adopted approach combines state-of-the-art technologies in areas such as Big Data, Blockchain, and IoT (to name just a few), as well as new business models and agri-environmental policies. Particular attention has been paid to the use of artificial intelligence and Federated Machine Learning (FDML) models , as well as Human Explainable AI (XAI) technologies aimed at increasing trust and overcoming barriers on the part of end users, with regard to the widespread adoption of such technologies.

During the meeting, the project’s technology partners talked about advancements in both the realization and integration of the various components, as the initial three-year phase of the project approaches its conclusion in January 2026. This phase will be followed by three years of field testing. “Co-Creation” sessions were also held with the project’s partners to explore and coordinate the application of the AGRIDATAVALUE platform to the project’s various use cases.

Almaviva is involved in several key activities, including the development of technologies that aim to better understand the results generated by models that the project’s partners have developed, as well as those related to the Blockchain for the creation of a Blockchain network and of solutions for tracking processes and notarizing resources. Topics related to interoperability with various CB networks and cooperation between different instances of the AGRIDATAVALUE platform are also fundamental. Another important area of Almaviva’s work involves projecting climate impact indicators in agricultural activities to estimate how these are related to key indicators of agriculture and biodiversity. This helps to assess how vulnerable farming operations are to the impacts of climate change.

On behalf of Almaviva, Marco Giolo, Sergio Sestili, and Olango Temesgen Magule attended the meeting in person while Alessandra Raffone, Luca Pompa, Gabriele Del Monte, and Paola Migliorelli participated remotely.
