“Our challenge unfolds along two main paths, both driven by a shared goal: research and innovation. We’ve also chosen to invest in the creation of core technologies, releasing the first generative models of the Velvet family as open-access tools. Our technologies are part of a complex platform that leverages multiple artificial intelligence capabilities to effectively meet various needs. Our approach is centered on a vision of technological solutions designed for specific use cases, in which the end result is the primary objective. Whether it's analyzing and comparing regulations to create a draft, structuring a tender, or developing conversational agents to interpret complex content, our solutions are designed to address these needs in a tangible way.”
These were the words of Almawave CEO Valeria Sandei, at the Euro-Mediterranean Economics Forum (Feuromed) currently underway in Naples.
“The real challenge for all of us is in the marketplace: ensuring that the solutions we develop have a true use, creating value by leveraging the talent we have here in Italy. In the European context, we believe that the challenge can be met. But we have to have the confidence to take risks.
In Africa, on the other hand, I see a major cultural opportunity to support digital transformation, a process that has the potential to drive innovation across the continent. I also believe that digital democracy faces the danger of single-mindedness. It’s essential to promote multiple models, as this diversity is the best safeguard for protecting the truth.”
Almawave CTO Raniero Romagnoli added: “In recent years, generative AI has reached the mainstream in many forms, fueled by the evolution of LLMs that are reshaping the technological landscape with increasingly advanced and versatile models. Almawave’s Velvet model, trained using Italy’s CINECA’s supercomputing infrastructure, is a prime example. What sets Velvet apart and enables it to compete with industry giants, is its focus on developing specialized systems and integrated applications.”
