Human Intelligence and AI: Complementary, Not Replacements 
What is AI really?

“AI is an augmented intelligence that helps humans operate faster, more efficiently, and more democratically.” With these words, Alberto Tripi, President of Almaviva and Special Advisor on Artificial Intelligence for Confindustria, addressed the Lectio Magistralis on “Assisted Natural Intelligence: AI for Humans”, held at the Carlo Azeglio Ciampi School of Economic and Social Policies in Rome.

“As early as the 1970s and 1980s, computers were queried for algorithm-based responses, yet the term ‘artificial intelligence’ has often sparked concerns.
Today, more than ever, it is essential that AI remain human-centered, respectful of ethical and social principles. A focus on security and appropriate regulations are crucial. However we must not fear it, because ‘augmented’ intelligence does not replace human intelligence, but rather enhances it.”

President Tripi also talked about Velvet, the first Italian Large Language Model, developed by Almawave and trained using the CINECA supercomputing infrastructure.
