“Not just those with a degree in STEM, but also high school graduates, graphic designers, architects, and those with a degree in the humanities. Creativity and curiosity are the soft skills needed to enter a job market that’s moving at an increasingly rapid pace.” Marina Irace, Director of Group People Management for Almaviva, talks about new professions in an interview with Cinzia Arena, featured today on Avvenire.

The job market is constantly evolving. “Compared to the past, there is an acceleration in the digital revolution. Technology is transforming our daily lives and keeping up with these changes is a challenge. Continuous training for employees is essential.” The advent of AI “does not replace developers, but rather acts as an accelerator, as seen, for example, with ChatGPT for writing. Among the new professions related to AI is the prompt engineer.”

Irace emphasizes the importance, now, of different figures: “The algorithm manages a vast quantity of data and we need someone to formulate the right questions. For example, in the linguistic-semantic field, such as translations, college graduates with a humanities background are essential.”

Each year Almaviva hires around a thousand people, primarily young individuals, with a hybrid work model. Young people make up 60-70% of new employees and the average age of employees is 45, with a focus on hiring women. Even though, “unfortunately, the gender gap in STEM fields remains quite persistent,” concludes Irace.
